NATIONAL Services SETA / F E T: HAIRDRESSING QUALIFICATIONS:
Levels 2 – 4 SAQA ID’s levels:

Learners who enrol on this full-time programme will complete 2 years of full - time study where they will complete the Theoretical and Practical aspects of the programme.
During the 2nd year of study, learners will be required to find a position as an apprentice in a salon working. Should learners not be able to acquire a salon position they will be required to complete this component in the Academy’s salon under the supervision of the qualified facilitators .
The 3rd Year of study requires the students to work on a full - time basis to complete the practical component of the programmes.

On successful completion of the 1st YEAR modules & credits Learners who have completed their POE shall be legible to receive the following National Service SETA Qualification after the Service SETA has completed the External Moderation:

The *Level 4 (Year 3) is completed in a Registered Salon that can verify and sign off on the accumulated hours over a 1 Year Period which is recorded in a Logbook .
This is the practical component part of Level 4 of the National Diploma in Hairdressing, and must be completed in a salon, under the supervision of a qualified Hairdresser (who has completed her Trade Test). After successfully completing all components, and providing us with a fully detailed log book of practical hours logged, a student may apply for their Trade Test at an Accredited Trade Test Centre.
Soma Sense Academy does not do Trade Tests, but can assist with preparing the student with pre-assessments if needed.
On Completion of the 3rd year Level 4 Salon Practical Component Learners who have completed their Logbook and after the Service SETA has completed their External Moderation :

NB: - Students are responsible for their own models/clients for practical sessions and exams, as specified on the term plan per faculty.

PRACTICAL TRAINING & ASSESSMENTS
Training Kits required every day – no exceptions will be made
The following criteria needs to be adhered to before entry into an examination is allowed:
Required training hours to be completed and up to date.
Absent hours to be caught up and signed off.
Learners will at the end of the two year period have the opportunity to do the ITEC Level 2 & 3 in Hairdressing as an additional AWARD
The 3 National Hairdressing qualifications will be completed Once the following has been successfully completed and the POE has been submitted for External Moderation by the Service SETA :
The Salon owner / manager needs to be registered with the:
National Hairdressing Bargaining Council
After completion of both Provider Hours ( 30% ) and Industry Hours ( 70%), the student can apply to the Services SETA for a Trade Test.
Valid proof of completion of hours must be provided ( Log Book / PoE )
